A Relationship with Jesus

God’s Love

God loves you because He created you, and wants you to experience a meaningful life and relationship with Him.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

What Keeps Me From A Relationship with God?

When God created us, He gave us the freedom to choose. We chose to disobey God by living our own way (by our own rules, ideas, opinions, and selfish desires). This is called sin in the Bible.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

This sin/disobedience separates us from a relationship with God. People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God (through good works, religion, philosophy, morality, and the like).

God’s Gift

God made a way – only one way – to bring us back into relationship with Him, and that is through a relationship with His Son Jesus. Jesus, as the perfect, sinless Son of God and in human form, paid the penalty of our sin by dying on a cross. He rose from the grave three days later, proving His triumph over death.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Who Can Be Saved?

Through Jesus, God made this restoration possible for everyone!

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

What Now?

It is not enough to just have knowledge that Jesus died for us. The Bible says that even the demons know it (James 2:19). You must act upon this free gift offered through Jesus Christ by:

1) Admitting to God that you are a sinner and need forgiveness.

2) Believing that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave.

3) Willingly turning away from your sins and allowing Jesus to be the “boss”/leader of your life.

4) Inviting Jesus Christ, through prayer, to come in and take lead of your life through the Holy Spirit.

Romans 10 9-10 “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart man believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

A Personal Prayer

If you are prompted in your heart to enter into this relationship with Jesus, you can offer up any prayer asking for it. One example is below:

“Jesus, I believe You are my only way to be saved. I thank You for dying on the cross for my sins and right now I invite you into my life as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for coming into my life and saving me. Make me the person You desire for me to be, and help me to obey your ways.”

Joshua 24:15 “Choose you this day who you will serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

A Word of Assurance

Once you enter into a genuine relationship with Jesus, you will never loose it! That relationship is there to not only grow and encourage you in this life and in the ways of God, but to restore and comfort you when you fall short of obedience.

John 5:24 “Truly, truly I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, or any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
