Who Is Jesus?
There are many confusing portrayals of Jesus circulating in our culture today. Some versions define Him as a great humanitarian and wise teacher in history. Other versions define Him as a perfect saint, incapable of making mistakes, thus presenting someone who feels unapproachable and incapable of relating to our messy lives.
Our culture has made it difficult to really understand and fully experience a relationship with Jesus. The truth about Jesus is that He is God’s one and only son. He took on human form, living among us, experiencing all the same things we experience as humans: physical limitations, hopes, pain, compassion, laughter, rejection, fulfilling relationships, failed friends, temptation, etc. Yet in His humanity, He was able to remain completely obedient to God’s plan and purpose for His life. God’s plan was to save us from the consequences of our disobedient ways by allowing Jesus to endure the consequences for us – Jesus died on a cross to set us free.
